My Background and Approach

I am an experienced professional counsellor fully accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (I.A.C.P) and with the Rape Crisis Network of Ireland (R.C.N.I). I trained in rape crisis and sexual abuse counselling in 1996, completed a two year post graduate diploma in counselling through the University of Limerick in 2000 and undertook professional training in counselling and psychotherapy with the Cork Counselling and Training Institute (C.C.T.I) from 2002-2004.

I approach my work with clients from a humanistic integrative perspective which means that I am client-centred in my focus, and that I draw from a range of recognised counselling and psychotherapy practises as appropriate to the particular client with whom I am working. I am committed to ongoing professional development in order to expand and enrich my knowledge and experience both personally and professionally.
